Biotechnological faculty
The main activities of Biotechnological faculty are as follows: training highly skilled specialists and scientists; implementing scientific, innovative, scientific and technical activities for the development of biotechnological industry, small and medium innovative business in the region of the Pripyat Polesie and the whole country.
The mechanism for achieving the set priority is the implementation of the Concept of an Innovative and industrial cluster in the field of biotechnologies and “green economy” and the construction of the Biotechnology Center on the basis of Polessky State University and Technopark “Polesie”.
The idea of the concept is to integrate the field of education, science and production by connecting students to current research achivements on the basis of Polessky State University research laboratories in the framework of practical classes, educational and production internship. This will not only equip students with certain skills of an applied character, but also contribute to the graduation of a specialist with the elaborations ready for implementation into production sphere.

The Biochemistry curriculum includes such main theoretical subjects as Structural Biochemistry, Analytical Biochemistry, Metabolic Biochemistry, Functional Biochemistry, Medical Biochemistry, Enzymology, Bio-energetics, Metabolomika, Basics of Radiation Biochemistry, Nanobiotechnology, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Biochemistry of Medicinal Plants, etc.

Lectures and practical classes are held in modern lecture halls and classrooms, educational and industrial research laboratories (DNA and Cell Technology Industry Laboratory in Crop Production and Animal Husbandry, Industry laboratory “Innovative Technologies in Agricultural Sector”, Sectoral Laboratory of Longitudinal Research) using the latest equipment and advanced technologies for training specialists in the field of Biochemistry.

Professional activity area of a biochemist-biologist
Students graduating from the specialty will be equipped with necessary knowledge and skills to work in a variety of areas, such as pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, medicine and veterinary medicine. Biochemists are also in demand in companies dealing with food, light or agricultural industries. Our graduates can find jobs in research laboratories that investigate new substances, drugs, work with cells, carry out immunological investigations and research in the field of nanobiotechnology and environmental monitoring.
Possible positions: biochemist, biologist, expert, researcher of production and research institutions, industrial enterprises, laboratories of certification, forensic, customs, sanitary and epidemiological, environmental services, etc.

 

All nonresident students are provided with comfortable dormitory in the center of the city for the entire period of study.
A unique sports complex with an Olympic pool, an ice arena, a universal gum, a football stadium, Training and Medical Center, cozy cafes and canteens are at the disposal of students.
